Owner-chef Juan Alberto ("Johnny" to customers) Melgar, and his latino staff turn out traditional kabobs and stews as if they were Iranian natives. Johnny came to the USA in 1983 from El Salvador. Upon his arrival Johnny started working as a busboy in Kolbeh Restaurant in Washington, DC. He watched the owners mother cook and he showed great interest and wanted to learn. Soon, the owners mother taught Johnny. Later, Johnny was the Chef cooking these traditional meals. Kolbeh later closed and Johnny moved to Paradise Persian Restaurant in Bethesda, Maryland he continued on mastering his skills. When Paradise closed, Johnny did what he knew best started a catering business and soon opened Johnny's Kabob Restaurant in 2006.
